As of July 13, 2009, I am officially a candidate for National Board Certification. I had been considering working towards this goal on and off for the past few months, but had pretty much decided against it with all the budget cuts North Carolina is facing. However, last night I learned that North Carolina would assist the first 1,300 who registered with funding this year. With the fear that this may not be offered again, I went ahead and registered, along with four colleagues.
After registering, I was speaking with some new colleagues on Twitter and was given a fantastic idea on how to help document my journey through this ongoing process- blogging (thanks @linda704). While I do not consider myself to be eloquent with writing, nor that insightful, I think that by blogging about my journey, I will be able to grow in these areas. I also think that it will help with the reflective writing that is required for the certification.
Now, I must wait for that infamous box to arrive. Until then...
